Teddy’s baby cat
I’m so glad we got the orange cat his very own kitten.

Wedding website up
Well, the bare bones of the website is up, at least. Go here to see it. We got our pictures from the photographers finally and I’ve been busy scanning them all in - all 150 or so of them. Each has to be color corrected and adjusted for grain and well, it’s been an exhausting few nights.
I’ll be uploading additional content to our website this week. But I wanted to get it up before our September 15 reception. You all should be getting your invitations soon. Hope to see you there!

Ack, we just got our wedding photos from the photographer. So now I have to actually make that wedding website and photo gallery I meant to do ages ago.
It looks like we’re planning on an informal reception on Sept. 8. The hold-up has been that every picnic shelter or small reception hall in northern Kentucky and Hamilton County are booked through the rest of the year. More information to come after today when I find out if we can reserve the clubhouse in David’s complex.

Cincinnati mayor Mark Mallory says he refuses to kickoff the College Hill Rhythm Race by firing a gun, even a starter pistol.
“I think the symbolism is just bad,” he said, explaining why. “It’s just something I don’t do.”
If his shooting ability is anything like his pitching ability, he’s doing everyone a favor.

Okay, so we’ve been back for a week now. But I just finally cleaned up the luggage from where we thrust it on the living room floor upon our return.
We have literally hundreds of photos that need developing and sorting, so I haven’t got those yet. But the one question that seems to refrain is “What did your dress look like?”
Absolutely gorgeous, that’s what my dress was. And this is coming from a decidedly non-dress wearing kind of girl.

I found dress shopping to be a weirdly out-of-body experience. I’d walk in and the saleswomen would launch into their sales pitch, asking if I wanted a side apron-split, an A-line versus Empire style, charmeuse or satin, and so on. I’d just look at them and tell them that the first and last time I ever wore a formal gown was to my freshman year homecoming dance and that I hadn’t a clue what language they were speaking.
I found my dress on the clearance rack of all places, for a mere $200. Alterations cost, um, just a bit more. Like twice the cost of the dress more, actually.
I quickly found that one loses any sense of inhibition or shame over their bodies when trying on wedding gowns. You strip in front of the salesgirl, who helps you literally dive into the dress (there’s no getting into these things alone) and then you strip for the seamstress in not one, not two but three fittings total. If you have sisters, friends or your mother shopping with you, they too get to see your birthday suit.
I’ve had women tell me they lose all sense of privacy after having a baby. I imagine the feeling to be much the same when trying on wedding dresses.
Anyway, my dress turned out quite lovely and although I still hate dresses, I wouldn’t mind waltzing away around the house, decked out in my beautiful gown.
Here’s some pics to sate your burning curiosity:
